Welcome New Dancers 

Here are some important things to know as you begin working with our studio 

  • Regular class attendance! Dancers cannot improve or progress if they repeatedly miss class.

  • Please arrive a few minutes early for class. Please DO NOT BE LATE!

  • Please adhere to the dress code at all times. It is different for each style of class.

  • Please have hair pulled off the face in a ponytail or bun depending on the class.

  • This is an open studio. Noise must be kept to a minimum in the lobby.

  • Questions or concerns for and instructor need to be directed to the office. They will have the instructor contact you so class time is not interrupted.

  • All scheduled rehearsals are mandatory therefore if you are absent there will be a $25 fee per dancer. 

STUDIO CLOSING INFORMATION

Our dance studio closes for Fall Break and Spring Break with Roane County Schools. All other closings will be shared on our Facebook page and on our Important Dates Calendar.

Dress Code

At Arts In Motion our priority is to instruct your child in proper dance techniques. It is not our intention for our dress code to exclude anyone from taking class. Our dress code assures freedom of movement and proper foot protection. We also coordinate our dress code with major university dance programs as well as Joffrey Ballet and Ailey Dance in New York.

 

Ballet

  • leotard-any color, levels I-II ONLY

  • black leotard, levels III-VI

  • pink performance tights

  • pink ballet shoes or pointe shoes (approved by instructor)

  • hair in a bun and always worn off the face

 

Modern

  • leotard-any color, levels II/III ONLY

  • black leotard for levels IV and Advanced Modern/Contemporary

  • NO T-Shirts or Tanks of any kind 

  • black pants, capris or shorts

  • footless/convertible tights

  • tights must be worn if bottoms are above knee

  • hair in ponytail or bun and always worn off face

  •  

Hip Hop

  • any fitted top, sports bra, tank or short top

  • pants, capris or shorts

  • tights must be worn if bottoms are above knee

  • tennis shoes, ALL BLACK 

  • hair in ponytail or bun and always worn off face

 Jazz /MusicalTheater

  • leotard any color or fitted top, level II ONLY

  • all black leotards levels III-Advanced

  • black theater skirt

  • tights (black or tan preferred)

  • black pants, capris or shorts

  • tights must be worn if bottoms are above knee

  • black character shoes

  • black soft jazz shoes

  • hair in ponytail or bun and always worn off face

 

Tap

  • leotard or fitted top any color

  • pants, capris or shorts

  • tights must be worn if bottoms are above knee

  • black tap shoes/style instructor's choice

  • hair in ponytail or bun and always worn off the face
